It was all excitement when some of our beneficiaries learnt that the first truck load of building bricks and hardcore had been delivered at the construction site. This was on Monday morning, Dec 13th 2010. (View attached photos).
With the $4290 we had received through Global Giving, we are proud to report that we have spent $1460 on 146 bags of 50kgs each of cement and we have purchased building bricks/stones and hardcore worth $2825, an equivalent of 47 square meters wall.
The first step towards the construction of the school on the 1 acre piece of land along Naivasha South Lake road, overlooking Lake Naivasha to the West and the cratered Mt Longonot to the South gives us all reasons to celebrate and be thankful to all our donors who have made this step a reality.
When Trizah heard that some bricks and cement had been purchased, she was overcome with joy and said "Oh my God, is it really true? We now know that our school is coming up...." (Trizah Musya is a 30 years old mother of a 16 years daughter. Trizah was initially trapped in the sex work industry and upon joining Life Bloom, she enrolled back to High School and sat her national examination in 2009. Trizah is one of the 124 ladies looking forward to pursuing a course in Leadership and Catering when our school opens its gates).
The first Phase of the School will cost $63,750. The completion of this Phase will open doors to the first for admissions for courses. We plan to have the "ground breaking" ceremony soon, for the construction works to begin.
