Friends of the needy foundation seek to build a community library and computer center for the rural community. This center will be equipped with books and computers for access by 1000 orphans and vulnerable children who come from poor families and they can not afford books and other reading materials. This will enhance quality of education and encourage reading hence promote literacy in Marani-Kenya
Schools and entire community of Marani District have a serious shortage of reading materials. Most of the schools in the district are day schools with no libraries. Yet the students in these schools are expected to compete with their counterparts in national and provincial schools well endowed with library facilities and due to high poverty levels, parents cannot afford to provide required learning materials for their children.
The project will purchase land, construct the library and equip it with chairs, shelves, computers, school books, reproductive health reading materials and other education materials .There will be two librarians to provide services to the pupils and students to improve education standards among the vulnerable children. The children will also be subjected to basic computer training.
The project will improve the quality of education among 1000 orphans and vulnerable children to help them access employment and enhance their living standard.
