We want to thank all the GlobalGiving donors who made it possible for 104 orphan’s girls to now have the needed bedding they requested: blankets and pillow!
They will be having sweet dreams now that their bunk beds and mattresses are complete withblankets and pillows!
Our U.S. team is departing to South Sudan on February 12- March 7th to purchase anddeliver the bedding to the girls at Ayak Anguei Girls Primary Boarding School, the only all girls boarding school in the region.
We are all so excited to meet up with the girls and celebrate the 17 out of 23 thatmatriculated onto secondary school this past May! In South Sudan, only 0.8% of girls attend primary school and less than 1% graduate from secondary school...so you can see why we are so very excited!
The girls at Ayak Anguei have had a very challenging year in 2012. Their six classroom community built building was destroyed by a tornado and they had to evacuate their school during their last school term due to inter-tribal conflict. But the Anguei girls DID NOT GIVE UP THEIR EDUCATION! They went into the town of Bor and continued their education until their classrooms were rebuilt! The girls returned to Ayak Anguei this past September to continue the legacy of completing their primary education and continuing onto secondary!
Their new classrooms are almost complete and when our U.S. team goes in February andMarch, school will resume after Christmas Holiday, we will capture the happy students in their new classrooms!
We thank you all for making this project come to a successful end and helping us provide the needed bedding for 104 orphan girls!
Please check out our next project focusing on Ayak Anguei Girls School: UNLEASH THE LEADERS!It is a program we are developing on girl’s student government FOR GILRS BY GIRLS. It was selected from the Global Giving Girl Effect Challenge as one of the highlighted programs to be included in The Girl Effect Global Giving donors 2013 funding!
Once again, we thank you for your continued support and look forward to your contribution to UNLEASH THE LEADER girl's student government for girls by girls in 2013!
