Ripped Apart

Ripped Apart
Sexual exploitation breaks the bodies of children in the here and now. And that is terrible enough. But it also rips apart their futures. Their ability to connect with people emotionally is often fractured. Their ability to connect with a loved one during adulthood in healthy sexual relationship is often numbed. We all need eyes to see that the violence that happens to our children today is also happening to them -- and to us -- tomorrow. --Martin French http://www.exileposterproject.com/posters.html (view small | med | large | orig)

Trapped

Trapped
After researching the issue of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, I struggled to find images powerful enough to express my disgust. One word kept rising up in my consciousness-TRAPPED. The laws that should guard these girls instead deem them criminals, and the men who promise them security and love now threaten pain and violence. Finally, the idea of using a steel trap in conjunction with the silhouette of a young girl satisfied me. We already loathe the steel trap. We know this tool is barbaric; that anything caught in it has been lured in with trickery and a seemingly innocent offering of something desired by the target. We already understand that the steel trap is very difficult to escape, and that any creature that might manage to escape would require vigilant nurturing and would almost certainly be deeply scarred. We have an immediate deep and intuitive response-WE MUST HELP. --Holly Glaspey http://www.exileposterproject.com/posters.html (view small | med | large | orig)

A Child in the Shadows

A Child in the Shadows
It is our job to train children how to grow up and become responsible and trustworthy adults. We are to show them the right path, to protect them from evil and injury, and when they fall we should be there to pick them up. If we bring harm upon them, we fail as adults, we fail as human beings and the punishment should be severe. Jesus is quoted saying " whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea" (Matthew 18:6, NKJV). We are to be their mother, father, brother, and sister. We should not be their enemy. --Justin Hall http://www.exileposterproject.com/posters.html (view small | med | large | orig)

A Child in a Healthy Spotlight

A Child in a Healthy Spotlight
This young designer cut off the bottom of a donated used wedding gown, dyed the dress burgundy and finished her creation with a bubble hem. Re-using, re-purposing, re-thinking life. (view small | med | large | orig)

A "Uniquely You" Purse

A "Uniquely You" Purse
At a recent workshop, the girls designed their own purse, choosing an outside fabric that represents what others "see" when they see them and then a fabric for the lining that represents who they really are, on the inside. Mentors reminded them that each one was unique, talented, and very special. (view small | med | large | orig)
