Summary

Our mission is to assist the people of South Sudan. We include in our common mission those Sudanese who are rebuilding their communities through education. There are more than 450 children in Magal who are desperate for education needs. We are working to promote democracy through literacy. Oprah Winfrey said that, "I believe that education is freedom. I believe that education saved my life.Source:David Letterman Show, 12 1, 2005. We also believe that education will free; safe lives in South Sudan

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Currently, the village of Magal has no permanent, stable structure to use as a primary school. The village has always relied on wooden pole structures covered with straw and mud erected by the villagers themselves using only local materials and few tools. Such structures are temporary at best since rain and wind storms easily damage these fragile structures requiring frequent rebuilding and either a disruption to the school's operation or forcing the school to hold classes outdoors.

How will this project solve this problem?

By this project raising money, we would be able: To construct a permanent structure to serve as the primary day school in Magal village in South Sudan serving over 450 local students population. Goal1: Achieve universal primary education to ensure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling at Magal Village. Goal 2: Educating children to help reduce poverty and promote gender equality and democracy through literacy. Goal 3: Provide active learning experiences for student

Potential Long Term Impact

It is difficult to overestimate the positive impacts of a permanent primary school building on a village like Magal. The two largest and long-lasting impacts will be:It will permit virtual uninterrupted learning for some 450 students of the village, something that is not possible now due to the tenuous nature of the wood and mud school structures.50% of the 450 students will be able to speak and write English by the end of 2018. Another 50% will have completed 8th to go to high school by 2018
