Mothers mixing sugar, oil and other nutrients

Mothers mixing sugar, oil and other nutrients
On food distribution days which happened every 2 weeks for the Supplementary Feeding Program, mothers would come in to the health centers where the nutrition program was being run, and would receive health education, have their children checked for weight and height (to check their progress), and receive supplementary food rations to take home with them including CSB, oil, and sugar. Mothers would volunteer to help with the process of preparing the rations, as seen in this photo. (view small | med | large | orig)

Screening children for malnutrition

Screening children for malnutrition
This child had been referred to the health center by community health workers who conducted routine MUAC screenings in the camps. When the child and her mother arrived at the health center, the nutrition staff screened her again using both MUAC and height/weight measurements; she was added to the nutrition program that day.
