Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest supports vulnerable children - affectionately referred to as Little Brothers and Sisters - ages 6-18 by matching them with caring adult volunteer mentors. Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest serves Multnomah, Washington, Clark, Clackamas, Skamania, Cowlitz, and Wahkiakum counties.
Children matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister for 18 months are less likely to begin using illegal drugs, skip school or participate in violence. A caring adult in the life of a vulnerable child opens a world of opportunities.
A study by Harris Interactive found adults mentored as children through Big Brothers Big Sisters are more likely than peers to have: a four-year college degree, an income of $75,000+, and strong relationships with their spouses, children and friends.
