Summary

The poor people who work in the popular markets of the city produce and transmit their own radio programs from their places of work.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Poor people working in the markets of Cochabamba do not have the opportunity to let society know their necessities and demands. Through the microphones of radio, society learns of the poor people’s needs and is compelled to help improve their life conditions. The radio is the scene of encounter between people who wish to help needy people. The beneficiaries of this activity are about 50,000 poor people who work in the popular markets of the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia.

How will this project solve this problem?

The poor workers use the microphones to express their necessities to society. The radio provides a nurse, doctor and lawyer for citizens and organizes advanced training courses in the necessary areas (health, education, etc.).

Potential Long Term Impact

The main goal is for poor people working in the popular markets to improve their education, health, work and respect for their human rights through use of the radio.

Project Message

The poor people of Cochabamba's popular markets don't have access to any form of media to communicate their needs. I decided to create a radio station to place in the hands of the people.
