We will be rebuilding a women’s community center in the Hagley Gap District in Jamaica. Currently, women are excluded from traditionally male social and educational opportunities. This community center will provide a safe environment that will empower women through educational programs promoting literacy, personal safety and health.
We need to build tables and benches as well as install bookshelves and paint walls. If we refurbish the center through these construction projects, we will allow the community to reopen a place of support and education for women.
Total Funding Received to Date: $4,534
This project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Project Report" tab as they become available.
Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $4,534 . The original project funding goal was $4,400.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
The community center will provide literacy programs and a place of support for over 500 women within the community and many more from surrounding areas. The support that this could offer for future generations of women is immeasurable and invaluable.
The Blue Mountain Project is dedicated to partnering with the people of Hagley Gap District of Jamaica to improve health, education, and the economy.
