The Eastern Coachella Valley in California is one of the poorest, densest areas of the United States. Basic needs like potable water, rudimentary sanitation, solid waste disposal and clean air often go unmet. S.C.R.A.P. Gallery & Cathedral City Rotary are working together to raise funds to support efforts in the community for water conservation and environmental programs. Together with local children, the story will be told and the Water Is Life mural will be created and shared.
The mural will be a permanent art piece in the Coachella Valley that will bring awareness to the general public about these issues. The mural also acts a physical fundraising component of the project.
Children in these areas will have access to education about water and environmental issues within their community. Funds will be used to bring potable water to communities who do not have access. Funds will be used to create environmental education to surrounding schools. We anticipate educating 300 children in the Eastern Coachella Valley.
