Civilization

By a female, 46-60 years old , in Busia, Kenya
Map of CIVILIZATION sometimes i burst into laughter when i remember how far individuals in my community have come.in 1980s there was so much literacy, people were uncivilized, they never knew their rights as Kenyan citizens, they never knew vehicles and were never vehicles passed, the entire village would stand along the road and watch the vehicles until it disappeared.surprisingly still some individuals were putting on animal skin while others a piece of cloth around the waste.the form of trade at that time was barter trade and some time no one would accept money because they thought it was just a piece of paper while the coins were seen as metals with no value. things started to change when one girl [Lillian] who had been taken abroad by missionaries came back home with a new set of ideas that changed the entire community.she brought home clothes and started teaching people how to put them on,she collaborated with the district administration and people were taught their rights as citizens.she also pleaded with the government to build a school nt eh area and that became the the beginning of civilization in my community beginning with one girl Lillian.Today the community is developed and completely changed with many civilized people.
