Barcelona Social Inclusion will help 2,500 homeless persons find resouces and reconnections to help them re-enter society. Improved safety, belonging and empowerment will improve the whole community.
Barcelona is home to 1.5 million persons. The 2,500 homeless are increasing in number. Communities have centrally located institutions offering basic response (food, shelter), rather than providing preventive measures for the roots of the problem. Most homeless sleep on outer streets, where they are not so alone, diminishing the comfort and safety of all city inhabitants. People choose not to see the homeless, even though they are bothered and threatened, because they think they cannot help.
Barcelona Social Inclusion project will take a different approach, highlight the causes of homelessness, and create a functional public outlet to (1) raise awareness for prevention and decreasing rates of homelessness; (2) help empower reintegration.
Barcelona Social Inclusion project will build a better future, helping prevent homelessness, empowering the 2,500 homeless individuals to become socially engaged, improving their quality of life and the well-being of the community.
