It may take several more months to receive the funding required to commence the Landin slum preschool repairs as posted on Global Giving. As an alternative, we will be examining the repair needs of our other preschools and select one that can be completed with the funding we already have.
Quick background: When we opened our first preschool in Bangkok in 1973, very few poor Thai children went to school. Today, The Human Development Foundation operates 25 preschools throughout Bangkok's poorest neighborhoods. Currently 3,000 children attend our preschools. To date, over 35,000 poor children have graduated from our preschools and entered government primary schools.
Many of our current school structures need fans, toilets, roof and flooring repairs. We will contact you once we have selected a school in need of similar but less costly repairs as detailed in the Landin school project, and ask for your approval.
Graduating from our preschools has become a rite of passage for slum children in many Bangkok communities. Thank you so much for your support in this project and in all our efforts. Please visit our website - www.mercycentre.org. If you are ever in Bangkok, please visit our Mercy Centre!
Project Reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you will get an e-mail when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports via e-mail without donating or by subscribing to this project's RSS feed.
Combined with other sources of funding, this project raised enough money to fund the outlined activities and is no longer accepting donations.
