Summary

Donors can respond to a true need in our area by donating funds for children's athletic shoes. Over 27,000 local children received basic resources from our organization in 2009.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Oregon has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, reports in July 2010 showed it at 10.6%. This has a direct effect on our local children. Many basic needs are unmet because of our current joblessness in Oregon. Families do not have the money to buy new shoes for their children, which means they suffer when the temperatures start to drop.

How will this project solve this problem?

NW Children's Outreach is dedicated to raising money to support lower-income families. We help fill the needs of these families, providing clothing, infant care products, and many of the other necessities parents needs for their children.

Potential Long Term Impact

Children that are properly clothed are more likely to attend school in the winter and thus finish their education for a brighter future.
