Help us offer a better future to students of Piaui, Brazil. Support the Ayrton Senna Institute to ensure kids learn to read and write at a proper age. Brazil public schools lack resources to give children the quality education they deserve; It's our goal to reverse the "age-grade gap" phenomenon, cycle that begins when students become discouraged with their lack of progress in school, lose interest, fall behind and drop out, deciding a full-time job is more valuable than an education.
51% of children in Brazil don't develop basic skills within the first 3 years of primary school; Piaui is no exception. Piaui is located in the underprivileged Northeastern region of Brazil. The average monthly income in the state is roughly $190 US Dollars, and a portion of the population is functionally illiterate. It is not that these children lack potential, it is that the inadequacies of the system allow students to be labeled as failures when they are never given an opportunity to succeed.
We develop large-scale solutions at a low-cost, achieved through collaboration with Departments of Education. Alongside teachers, we implement a rigorous classroom culture focused on student success in reading, writing, and math during the first years of primary school. Our educational solutions provide a structure that helps teachers manage the progress and needs of every student, to ensure quality-control and effective results as improvements in literacy proficiency and personal development.
Students are introduced to a classroom discipline and structure that prepares them for continued academic and personal success. We believe that every child has the potential to succeed; they just need to be given the capacity to achieve their goals. There are currently over 40,000 students involved in our programs throughout Piaui and each one deserves an equal chance at success. With just a small donation you can make a significant investment in the future of one of these children.
