There are finally students in our library! After months and months of preparation, of painting and carpeting, of bookshelves and tables and chairs, and of course books, we finally have students in the library reading!
The library is used for both classes who want to come up and read, or need a study space, or resources that are in the library, and for recreational use. Students have the choice, and are eagerly taking the opportunity, to go up to the library during recess and free periods to read, to write and to play games like chess, checkers and dominoes.
New Librarian Steve is very excited about the library and how it is being used by students and teachers alike. This picture is of him reading to an elementary class on the very first day the library opened. And recently, he has commented how much fun it is to teach middle school boys how to play dominoes, and watch them develop math skills "without even realizing they're learning!"
The library has proven to be a big hit with students, who go up for fun and free time, and in the process are learning a great deal. Thank you for all your support.... without your help, this wouldn't be possible!
