Summary

There are thousands of foster children in our area who are in desperate need of assistance (with clothing, food, education, medical assistance, and beds), as well as life-enriching experiences (team sports, summer camp, and birthday parties). Foster Angels' simple, proven program keeps kids from waiting for crucial assistance. Many of these children have already experienced years of waiting--waiting for a family, for safety, and for joy.

Challenge

Unfortunately, each year the number of neglected and/or abused children who find themselves in foster care grows dramatically. Each Child Protective Services investigator in the state of Texas on average handles 36 cases of abuse and neglect every month. Every new case brings more children who have been abused or neglected and are in desperate need of assistance.

Solution

Foster Angels provides funding for clothing, education, food, medical needs and events in the children's lives which build self-esteem and community. For example, we provide funds for a child to have a birthday party or to purchase sports equipment or to buy a prom dress or to attend summer camp. These children wholly depend on agency resources for their survival, and when those means are no longer available, they can turn to Foster Angels.

Long-Term Impact

At Foster Angels, we believe it's that one moment of caring, given at just the right time that often translates into a lifetime of difference. In 2013, Foster Angels hopes to serve at least 1,300 children and youth in foster care. Our philosophy is that foster children must be exposed to positive influences, activities and experiences that help them to flourish and reach their full potential. We help provide enriching experiences that will shape a child's life and most of all, their future.
