This Project will provide shelter for 30 abused women and children traumatized by all forms of violence in Ghana.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
While the Constitution of Ghana abolishes all customary practices that are harmful to and dehumanize persons, these practices still exist in many of our communities, perpetuated by a male dominance culture in our communities and ignorance of many women of their rights. The entire project will offer psycho-social support to 500 women and children but 30 will benefit from the shelter services.
How will this project solve this problem?
The Ark seeks to promote and protect the human rights of abused women and children. We do this by providing different interventions, particularly in areas of service provision, research, legal reform proposals, advocacy, training and education.
Potential Long Term Impact
The Project provides relief to survivors of abusive environments. Holistic support services reduces the traumatic and mental pain of survivors.
