We are working hard to get a board up in Oklahoma and several other states, but our concentration at this time is Oklahoma.
With the recent developments and new threats to horses in Oklahoma, Angel Acres is striving to raise awareness in the state with strategically placed billboards and updated information on the billboards companion website:
If you are not aware, recent passage of legislation would allow the resumption of horse slaughter in the USA. Our billboard awareness campaign is more important than ever.
Spread the word that horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia, today!
Thank you for being a part of our awareness efforts.
We have 2 more anti horse slaughter billboards going up in Oregon and one going up in British Columbia!
The billboard campaign is still working its way across the nation and into Canada.
The Canadian board will be the third Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter billboard to be erected in a Canadian Province...where roughly 60,000 American horses are slaughtered each year.
The Stop Slaughtering Us website hits continue to grow and we will continue working hard to raise awareness that horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia and that no horse deserves to be brutaly slaughtered to feed foreign diners.
Time for an update!
4 New boards are going up this month!
One in Canada (our second one), two in New York State (where they're sure to gather some attention) and one in Oregon (where some folks are trying to open up a horse slaughter plant back on US soil).
While these 4 sponsored boards will be going up this month (July, 2012) the overall donations towards the campaigns have waned. We do not have much new to report on the billboard front but hope to re-energize the campaign to continue our trek through the USA with our anti horse slaughter billboards.
While we continue to hope that the billboard fairy will make a large donation to help us get boards up in the remaining 18 states where we don't have them yet, we will keep plugging away and raising funds and raising about the horrors of horse slaughter awareness via our anti horse slaughter billboard campaign and any and all outlets we can.
Thanks so much for being a part of our awareness efforts.
Since our last update we have been able to post 3 more anti horse slaughter billboards in 3 new cities!
We have finally gotten our very first anti horse slaughter billboard up in Canada and are actively working on a second board!
The board went up in Ottawa, Canada and has been well received.
A billboard went up in Amarillo, Texas (just outside AQHA headquarters).
A billboard went up in Oklahoma City, OK (the pro slaughter conference scheduled just a few days after the board went up cancelled and rescheduled their pro horse slaughter conference till January, 2013).
Website hits are now averaging 16,000 hits per week!
We still have much more work to do and currently have 3 more boards in the works.
We are hoping to reach our overall goal soon.
THANK YOU for helping us spread the word that horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia!
The billboard campaign continues to raise awareness around the nation; bringing folks to the Stop Slaughtering Us website to learn the real facts about horse slaughter.
Website hits are now averaging 15,000 hits per week!
One of our boards recently went up in Jupiter, Florida and raised oodles of awareness and made all of the major print and television media outlets - it caused quite a stir. You can see those stories HERE.
This board would not have been possible without this project on Global Giving! This is our 3rd board in Florida and is one of the most popular boards so far.
You can see our list of billboard locations by clicking HERE.
NONE of these boards would have been possible without support from the animal loving general public folks supporting our efforts and our project here on Global Giving. We receive NO corporate funding, NO grants, NO government funding.
The campaign is now 12 months old and continuing to build support and raise awareness about horse slaughter and the fact that it is NOT humane euthanasia.
Our email is overflowing with people who had no idea that horses were being shipped to slaughter, a sign our educational efforts are working! Thank you for being a part of our success!
