This project is designed to socialize and rehabilitate a new group of 40 children and teenagers from the social risk group by their engagement in circus training and their social and health support.
Our program addresses the cause of neglected children of St.Petersburg. According to The Russian Prosecutor General's Office about 3000 children leave homes to live on the street having been put in the dramatic living circumstances by their families. Upsala-Zirk offers an alternative to street life, reintegrate children into society and create favourable conditions for their thorough development.
The aim of Upsala-Zirk is the social adaptation of neglected children and youth by means of social circus work. Mastering circus skills allows children to fulfil their need for risk by socially accepted means.
The Upsala-Zirk will create an alternative to street lifestyle for 40 children from social risk groups giving them an opportunity to learn, develop and achieve their dreams.
