Thank You

GPS 2012
GPS 2012

We are grateful for your investment in Allowance for Good’s network of youth. Your contribution to Allowance for Good helped teenagers from the greater Chicago assume leadership roles and achieve their philanthropic goals. Thank you!

We are writing to give you an update about the early successes that Allowance for Good and our youth volunteers have attained with your support. Your investment has helped launch the Catalysts for Good program, in which we work side-by-side with young leaders to help them plan projects and promote philanthropic giving for better education services in Guatemala and now also Cambodia. We also made significant changes to our website, giving youth exciting tools to track their philanthropic engagement with Allowance for Good.

We are thrilled to announce that Allowance for Good recently debuted its first Global Philanthropy Summit this June. The Summit was organized to build a core mass of teen philanthropists, whom we call our Young Catalysts, that expressed keen interest in developing individual projects for growing philanthropic giving in their peer communities. The Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Google Chicago, GlobeMed, and BMO Harris Bank graciously partnered with Allowance for Good to provide these young leaders guidance in philanthropy. To close the Summit, The Rotary Club of Evanston Lighthouse contributed a pool of $500 for the teens to distribute collectively to our global education projects. Take a moment to watch student highlights from GPS 2012. Most importantly, the Summit is being organized at no cost to the youth participants due to the generosity of donors like you.

Allowance for Good is making an impact. In the words of Glenna Siegel, a senior at New Trier High School and a member of our Youth Advisory Board:

“I have enjoyed the opportunity of experiencing growth in many different forms. I have seen Allowance for Good itself grow as it adds projects and partnerships. My ambitions as a global citizen and philanthropist have grown from local to global, and with the guidance of the Allowance for Good family, I have grown as a force of good. I have also acquired a new confidence in my ability to change the world because, through example, Allowance for Good has proved to me that it is possible.”

We could not do it without your help. With contributions from the friends of Allowance for Good like you, we are helping teens achieve their philanthropic dreams! Within the next few months we will be reaching out to you to further discuss our achievements, our goals, and the opportunities ahead for our Young Catalysts. Please don’t hesitate to email or call (847.893.9514) me with questions about how to continue your investment in the lives of teens both here at home and around our world.

Again, thank you for your generous investment in Allowance for Good.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth and the Allowance for Good team

PS - it is your ongoing support that keeps us growing! Please consider giving today.
