Create an electronic forum to engage doctors, nurses, and medical students in pediatric HIV/AIDS treatment and knowledge-sharing in collaboration with the Kenya National Pediatric HIV Training Program
Infant mortality rates in Kenya are increasing due to HIV/AIDS infection, but fewer than 5% of HIV-infected children ever receive treatment. Children living with HIV/AIDS pose unique challenges, requiring special care, treatment, and drug formulations. This project will support the healthcare providers who treat the estimated 100,000 Kenyan children living with AIDS, ensuring that they receive the most current, reliable, and relevant information to effect better, more informed patient care.
We will create an online forum for Pediatric HIV Training Program faculty and students to ask questions, share ideas and information, relate experiences, and pass on opportunities. A related e-newsletter will publish pediatric HIV/AIDS medical data.
The electronic forum and e-newsletter will foster pediatric HIV/AIDS knowledge-building and knowledge-sharing. The young patients of our subscribers will receive better medical treatment as their healthcare providers expand their knowledge and skill.
