Help an Afghan Woman Escape to Safety

Summary

Through MADRE’s Afghan Women’s Survival Fund, you can help provide a young Afghan woman named Naseema whose life is at risk with the resources she needs to secure safe passage out of Afghanistan.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Naseema chose to report her husband to the authorities for murder. Now, her life is in constant danger as her husband tries to track her down, and her only hope is to escape her home country of Afghanistan. MADRE created the Afghan Women’s Survival Fund to provide shelter, secret transport and other life-saving necessities to women like Naseema who are threatened for daring to speak out for their rights.

How will this project solve this problem?

MADRE is activating the Afghan Women’s Survival Fund to send Naseema the emergency funds she needs to escape to safety and set up a new life for herself and her children that is free from violence.

Potential Long Term Impact

The Fund enables Afghan women to safely relocate and resume their work for justice. Afghan women activists are empowered by the knowledge that they have somewhere to turn when threatened.
