Ajit Foundation has identified 4 blocks in periphery 45 Km of Solpur district place, where 2000 children are HIV infected and required support. We have closely monitored and analyzed that these children required emotional, social and economic supports to survive healthy life. Shelter for 500 HIV infected children, will provide all required services under one roof. This project will ensure all services which are include medical treatment, counselling, education and socialization support
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Solapur district with population of (43.17 lac) in Maharashtra state has 30 blocks and Barshi is one of the block consist 7% (3.22 lac) of the district population. There is RTI center at block level where HIV infected and PLWA are treated. We identified 115 out of 250 HIV infected children with single or without parents. The parent of HIV infected children monthly average income is Rs. 3000 and most of the parents of these children are also HIV infected.
How will this project solve this problem?
Well-equipped shelter will offer service such as food, night shelter, supplementary education, recreational facility, regular medical check-up, counselling etc. This shelter will ensure regular health check up and right to live, right to education and health. During their stay period project will impart vocational skills in order to create livelihood opportunities for their future.
Potential Long Term Impact
Lives of 100 children will be sustained with health life. They will contribute positively for their life as well as for the society. It will not only help to prevent HIV /AIDS but also increase the life expectancy of HIV infected children. It also protects their basic child rights.
