CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) pairs volunteers with foster children to advocate for their best interests in the court process. CASAs mentor and coach the children an are their voice in court
Thousands of children enter foster care every day. Many are moved from home to home and lose any sense of belonging and attachment. "I can't imagine that I would be as successful as I am today if I had grown up in an environment, where just surviving was my biggest challenge. Every child deserves the chance to become something bigger than they alone can dream." CASAs give foster children the support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to focus their energies on achieving their dream
The CAPC will recruit, screen, and train volunteers to pair with foster children for a minimum of 18 months. They build a relationship with the child, gather information, prepare a court report & stand up in court on behalf of the child.
Foster children have a 40% greater chance of ending up homeless and/or in prison. Changing lives takes time and resources. One volunteer is assigned to one child for a minimum of 18 months and usually lasts well beyond that initial assignment.
