2013 was an incredible year of achievement for Creativity for Peace campers and Young Leaders. Fourteen new peacemakers came to camp in New Mexico and met again back home to renew their friendships and their commitment to peace. Young Leaders created a schools dialogue project in Israel and spoke to over 4,000 people in America, most of whom were high school students. What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
One of the biggest obstacles to peace in the Middle East is a lack of hope. Both sides wanting peace, but worn down by years of conflict and not believing that is a partner for peace on the other side.
How will this project solve this problem?
Your donation will support on the ground peace work in Israel, Palestine and in the US. It will support our 2013 campers and Young Leaders as they put their Creativity for Peace training into practice. Their message of hope and peace will ripple out to family, friends, colleagues, and communities. As Rula Abu Hussein, a Palestinian Israeli Young Leader said: "Even if we're not large in number, we will bring change. All you need is one brave woman who wants to contribute something to this world"
Potential Long Term Impact
In our tenth anniversary year the work our Young Leaders are undertaking in their communities, countries and internationally is proving that investing in smart, courageous, and compassionate girls and women pays off. Becoming a peacemaker is not a one-time event but a decision made daily to keep standing up against discrimination, hatred, cynicism and above all, hopelessness. PEACE WILL COME - THIS HOLIDAY SEASON HELP OUR YOUNG LEADERS CREATE PEACE ONE STEP AT TIME.
