Why We Do Blink

By a female, 16-21 years old,
Map of why we do blink I guess you've noticed that your eyes blink rather regularly. Most people blink about 25 times a minute while they are awake. Tear glands in the outside corners of your eyes are always making tears and the blinking of your eyelids wipes them away. That keeps the front surface of your eyes moist and clean. Blinking is controlled by a reflex, that is an automatic nerve actio. Besides making your eyes blink regulary, the automic controlalso works to close your eyelids when something is about to strike your face. So blinking is important in protecting your eyes. You can decide not to blink and stop blinking may be for ten seconds or so. But then the automatic control becomes too strong. There is only one safe and effective way to stop blinking:close your eyelids and go to sleep. Read more.
