Upsala-Circus is the one and only social children circus in Russia, a real circus for hooligans!
Our old circus bus that we use to go on trips has driven many miles and is constantly out of order. We need a new bus for our young vagabonds to continue their circus travels.
Children from groups of social risk become real circus artists in our circus. They train every day, 5 days a week, and perform regularly. Every year the Upsala-Circus artists go on a tour to Europe, from England to Germany. A tour like that also allows us to raise funds for our circus running costs. But our old circus bus has driven dozens of thousands of miles by now and had to be repaired many times. It is now very expensive in maintenance, and is not safe for any long-distance travel.
We need a new bus to ensure the safety of our trips for our little passengers and for everybody else on the road. A new bus will allow us to plan a tour in summer 2014. A trip abroad, performing for wide audience, is an important part of social adaptation program that our young artists participate in, and also a great opportunity for Upsala-Circus to raise funds for our projects for the next year, and to find new partners and sponsors.
The new bus will allow Upsala-Circus artists to travel in Russia and Europe, and make short trips to perform in Saint Petersburg at various shelters, orphanages, partner social organizations, and also for public at large at the circus festivals. The performances allow Upsala-Circus to find and enroll more children, to organize cultural events for hundreds of children and families from groups of social risk, and to disseminate information about circus pedagogy and social circus.
