Akamba Handcraft industry started in early 1960s in Turdor,mombasa.Today the industry has 2752 members.The origin of this industry was Wamunyu in present machakos county.Then,the craftsmen made beautiful crafts but lacked proper market for them.They started by ferrying the products from Wamunyu to Mombasa.It became a regular journey to and from mombasa but due to travel expenses and tiresome journey the traders resolved to stay and start the industry at Tudor. Now that industry has grown,where a member can access loans for example if a member takes a loan of more than ksh 10,000 he or she pays back the loan with 10% interest.The industry distributes its products overseas and to other African countries besides selling to local. Changing Lives

Map of Changing lives Youth enterprise fund, an initiative stipulated by the office of the prime has saved many youth from unemployment. Most youths in my area have really benefited from this project. A good example is a certain young man who went and borrowed loan from the enterprise fund. He then started a poultry farm at his home. With dedication and commitment to his work, his farm grew big and then turned to sell eggs daily. Per day he was making huge profits. He used the proceeds to repay the loan and the rest to develop his poultry farming. He is now earning too much; so much that he is about to be a millionaire. He owes his thanks to the youth enterprise fund. Read more.
