The project will provide 250 poor families affected by HIV/AIDS in Moi’s Bridge, Kenya, with basic necessities: nutritional foods, antiretrovirals, training, medical checkups and a source of income.
In Kenya, three people die from HIV-related illnesses every five minutes. Families lack access to treatment, nutritional foods and care. In the rural villages of Kapkoi and Kambi in Moi’s Bridge, the situation is even worse. Over 68% of the families earn less than $1 a day. The only health center stocks basic drugs. Three in every 10 children are orphans. The project will strengthen the ability of PLWA guardians and individual families to cope with the effects of the scourge.
We will provide small-business loans to families affected by the disease; purchase antiretroviral drugs; offer bursaries to orphans; facilitate medical checkups for common infections; provide home-based care for PLWA and purify water for 50 families
To build a strong and functional network of grassroots social workers within rural communities who will provide moral, professional and psychological support to affected families and ensure that fundamental services are accessible to all.
