Thank you for supporting our work to improve the health and economic opportunities for underserved women and girls in India. With Global Giving’s support, we have reserved the living conditions of women and girls in India and laid the foundation for strong partnerships on this vital project.

The women in India still need your help! To create change in this country, their voices must be heard.

Life of the average low income woman in India is unacceptable. Nearly half of women are Illiterate. The median number of years in school for girls is 1.8 compared to 5.5 for boys. 40% of women experience domestic violence inside and outside the family throughout their lives. Police records show that a woman is molested in the country every 26 minutes. A rape occurs every 34 minutes. Every 42 minutes, an incident of sexual harassment takes place. Every 43 minutes, a woman is kidnapped. Every 93 minutes, a woman is killed.

Media Impact project will use a multi-pronged communications approach to change the plight of these women. A regional radio drama will weave together relevant information on women’s health and human rights and human rights with a compelling story. Coalitions of NGOs and government ministries will complement the radio drama through interactive call-in shows and community mobilization campaigns that engage women. With action on the ground, regional sharing will allow for unique peer-to-peer learning opportunities.

The objectives for the first two years of the program are:

1. Develop the capacity of local women organizations in India to use communications to effectively enhance community based activities and motivate longer term social change;

2. Building a community of coalitions and well-informed constituencies that understand and support CBA activities towards women's rights; and,

3. Positively change community knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to Indian women's health and various related social issues.
Please make a donation today to provide the women of India an opportunity to be heard and share their stories.

“Aap ke medat ke liye dhanyabad” (Thank you for your help)
