Twelve teens from Denver, CO plan to travel to the Middle East to build bridges of mutual respect across a global divide, conducting service alongside youth in local communities. Please Help!
Stereotypes, lack of information, and misleading media often distort youth’s views of other cultures and religions, especially between the West and Middle East. Continuing to reinforce negative biases without opportunities to interact with one another and hear differing perspectives will deepen the schism between us. Leadership that does not directly engage youth and their communities often results in ineffective and/or misguided solutions that do not represent the needs of those most affected.
American students will walk & serve side by side with local youth, experiencing their cultures & perspectives firsthand. Shattering misconceptions and revealing our common humanity, youth leaders will bridge diverse communities.
Inspired to create change in their own communities, youth will continue to foster cross-cultural relationships, plan joint service projects and future trips. This transformational journey will enrich youth participants’ world views for a lifetime.
