One hundred students, from a greatly impoverished township, with strong leadership potential would be chosen from ten high schools to develop their abilities.
The students would come from schools selected by the Education Department; institutions with high rates of poverty but proven success. Although they have great potential, due to economics and the conditions of post-aparthied South African they will need highly developed skills to realize their abilities.
The students would engage in team-building activities, practice leadership skills through a service project and conduct activities designed to transform them into leaders.
The committed leaders would be stronger candidates for matric, university admittance and future employment. Each would also be charged with forming a service club in their respective high school, thereby further expanding the impact of the program.
