LI provides educational and vocational training to slum and impoverished children and women. In providing basic education, LI empowers children and women through development of their core skills.
The current literacy rate in India is 61%. With such a low rate in one of the world's largest nations, India needs more organizations like Literacy India, that focuses on making a positive change at the grassroots level -- or, in the slums and villages of Gurgaon, Delhi.
1. Fund raise from large corporate donors but, more importantly, individual donors. Example: - Organizations such as the 501-C certified organization in the US, Kathpal Foundation, fully supports Literacy India
The long term impact of this project is to provide underprivileged children and women the opportunity to learn core disciplines and become self sufficient in their own right, thus becoming active and productive members of their communities.
