Reef Relief's Clean Water Campaign seeks to improve water quality for coral reefs through environmental education and policy guidance.
Environmental Issue: Save Biologically Rich Coral Reefs. Coral reefs cover 2% of the ocean, yet are home to 25% of all ocean life. We depend upon them for tourism, recreation, quality of life, commercial fishing, food, protection from storm surge, habitat for endangered species and as a sink for carbon dioxide. In the past 15 years, 40% of the world’s reefs have been destroyed and another 40% are at risk, unless we all get involved in their protection. Solutions exist; get involved now!
Reef Relief works in Florida to end ocean dumping on coral reefs, adopt advanced waste & stormwater treatment & reuse, boater no discharge zones and prevent pollution. We help communities worldwide adopt similar water quality improvements for corals.
increase the health and diversity of coral reefs in the Florida Keys, throughout Florida, and worldwide by increasing knowledge and thoughtful action on the part of boaters, divers, fishermen, educators, students and policymakers.
