Mission

DEPDC is a non-profit community based, prevention-orientated organization offering education and full-time accommodation for children in prevention of being trafficked into the sex industry and other exploitative child-labour situations. DEPDC is a non-governmental organization with no religious or political connection and is recognised nationally and internationally

Programs

DEPDC has a variety of programs including community based support and shelter, emergency rescue for trafficked women and children, prevention of abuse and trafficking, youth leadership initiatives to develop a network of leaders fighting against trafficking, education for vulnerable children and teenagers outside the formal education system, and vocational and human rights training for undocumented migrants.

Personnel Overview

Alinda Wettasin - Executive Director
Alinda Wettasin has a long history with DEPDC. She met Sompop Jantraka when she was in high school and began helping and looking after DEP daughters. Eighteen years later, Alinda is the executive director. “DEPDC will focus on helping children even more by increasing community activities and vocational training to incorporate the teaching of trafficking and protection issues.”

Sompop Jantraka - Founder and Chief Advisor
Sompop is a TIME Asia Hero 2002, Ashoka fellow and Reader's Digest "Hero for Today." He received the Prime Minister Chuan Lekpai Award for service in the fight against prostitution and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Sompop has helped over 3000 children by teaching them how to be good people and showing that taking care of society is everyone’s responsibility.
