Final report from Wayalayeng project

Please find below my final report for the 2nd tranche of the GG grant ($950) to Wayalayeng. In general it was implemented successfully.

The best news is that in November 2007 a friend of mine overnighted in Wayalayeng and reported to me that the lights were working in the school and the church and the radio was operating ok. He did not actually see the TV working but Councillor Harris reported that "all equipment was functioning."

Once again I would like to thank Global Giving for all the support given to this isolated village.

Regards,

Jerry

Report on Guyana Expedition

During November 2006, GlobalGiving, RUSH HD and The North Face, in association with Catch & Release Communications, joined together to conduct an expedition into the largely uninhabited southwestern corner of Guyana’s Amazon Tepui region with two objectives:

(1) To climb and film the 2000-foot prow of Roraima, one of South America’s most mysterious landmarks, and
(2) To install solar energy, HF radio and DVD systems in a hinterland school at Wayalayeng, Guyana, a small community of less then 120 residents, including some 40 nursery and primary school students.
