Share & SaveMore Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesSouthern Madagascar is home to the poverty-stricken Vezo fishing community, which relies on the rich biodiversity of the region’s marine ecosystems for food and income. However, unsustainable fishing practices have degraded the marine and the Vezo tribe are facing the loss of livelihoods and culture. The area is in desperate need of development of its economy outside of fishing, but this must be done hand-in-hand with saving one of the most beautiful and unique marine environments on the planet. ActivitiesDeveloping an environmentally beneficial Eco-lodge, run by the community with all profits reinvested or going back to the community. 25 traditional huts will be built, with all material and labour sourced from the local region.
