More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Village families in the rural areas of Ouelessebougou face many health risks and diseases every day. Health education and disease prevention are key to enhancing the quality and longevity of life. Villagers do not have access to clean water or electricity. Many children die from simple causes such as diarrhea, measles and pneumonia and do not live past their fifth birthday. The Alliance provides healthcare for more than 20,000 villagers in 24 rural villages.

Activities

Health training is provided for health workers, who then provide training for village families. Vaccinations are administered for women and children. 2,300 villagers are fully vaccinated (three times per year), totaling 7,500 vaccinations.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Vaccinations decrease the possibility of contracting diseases for hundreds of village women and children every year. Villagers are urged to attend health trainings to openly discuss and find solutions to the health concerns in their villages.

Project Message

“Please thank the Alliance for the wonderful things they have done for my village. The children in my village are healthier and they are going to school. I am so grateful for what you are doing.”
- Soumaya, Village Chief
