In rural areas of Guatemala, 80% of women lack access to qualified medical attention. Poverty, illness, and malnutrition threaten the lives of expectant mothers in the rural Mayan communities of Guatemala and can rob their newborns of a healthy future. Pueblo a Pueblo helps children before they are born- by offering access to vital prenatal and postnatal care for indigenous women in this region, as well as medical care to their babies during their most vulnerable period from birth to age 5.
