Merlin has been responding to cholera outbreaks since 2010. In Nov. of that year, a huge outbreak threatened the lives of thousands of people - the majority children. Merlin set up CTUs and ORPs in rural communities. Baby Michelle was one of the first patient at Merlin's newly set up CTU.

With the arrival of the rainy season, cholera cases have increased significantly acrosss Haiti. Merlin plans to respond to the worsening situation by setting up two, 30 bed Cholera Treatment Units (CTUs) and Oral Rehydration Points (ORPS) within villages and rural communities.
