You do not have to pay any fees to join GlobalGiving. In fact, GlobalGiving has no setup, monthly, or annual fees! We do this because we believe in the power of great ideas that can come from anyone, anywhere, anytime. Therefore, no matter how big or small your organization is, you will have the same opportunity as everyone else to raise funds on our platform.
There is, however, a nominal 15% fulfillment fee for donors. This means that we charge 15% on all donations made through our site. Most donors choose to pay this fee in addition to their donation to ensure that 100% of their donation goes to the project(s).
As a result, an average of 90% of all donated funds go straight to your project, reducing the net fee that most organization see to 10% on average.
Our 15% fee helps cover the cost of operating GlobalGiving - finding and vetting projects, providing training and support to project leaders, attracting donors, and maintaining an innovative, informative web presence. It also covers the fees assessed by vendors for credit card processing, mobile giving, wire transfers, and other fees charged by financial institutions. We'll be the first to acknowledge that our structure isn't a good fit for everyone. For example, if you already maintain a website with international transaction processing, if you have a staff dedicated to donor management, or do not like to accept project-specific funding, GlobalGiving might not your best option.
