The Mariposa Center for Girls is a beautiful space for the girls of our community to come and learn valuable skills that will set them off on the right path to become active leaders for social change. The facility contains space for educational, enrichment, and job training programs, and currently serves over 75 girls and their families. The organization is looking for funding to pay for the safe transport of the girls to and from the center 5 days a week.
Attending extracurricular programming is very rare for children, especially girls, living in the North Coast. Mariposa girls have the chance to participate in incredible academic, athletic and life-changing opportunities. However, the cost of the transportation and the safety of public transportation as well as the roadways themselves, can make it difficult and potentially dangerous for our Mariposas to get to the Center on their own.
$3000 dollars provides our girls with safe and consistent private transportation to and from Mariposa activities throughout the month of January. The girls are picked up and dropped off right in their neighborhoods.
By providing the Mariposas with reliable and comfortable transportation to and from activities we are ensuring that they have higher attendance rates and are not waiting for public transportation alone on the streets.
