Challenge

The children at this home have been treated as a commodity to be bought and sold, trafficked, and tortured. They are now physically safe, but they have seen and experienced many painful things.

Solution

Our team will assess psychosocial needs, with the aim of developing a plan of support and equipping care providers with an understanding of basic mental health and illness, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress. Since this is an assessment trip, the Mental Health Program Consultant may or may not provide direct intervention with some of the children in addition to training workers.

Long-Term Impact

By equipping caregivers who are with the children on a regular, ongoing basis, the children can receive support and healing that they need. Care providers can use this training to better understand, serve, and protect the children in their care. Children can heal from the emotional pain and trauma of things they have seen and experienced.
