Phoenix Inspire is launching a new social enterprise by opening a high quality butcher shop (charcuterie) in Vidin, Bulgaria. This enterprise will provide another opportunity--in addition to the Phoenix Inspire-founded Phoenix Cafe and Bakery--for disadvantaged youth in the poorest region in the country to be trained and employed in the food service industry. It also fulfills a market need, as a business producing and preparing high-quality meat products does not exist anywhere in Bulgaria.
Phoenix Inspire's motto is 'creating opportunities, inspiring success'. This social enterprise to create a butcher shop, The Master's Larder, will provide an innovative solution to 2 problems: a lack of high quality meat products in the Vidin region and country of Bulgaria (with a proven demand for these products), and a lack of employment opportunities for young adults in an economically struggling area. But significant funding is needed to meet the opening costs for the Masters' Larder shop
The Masters' Larder will prepare and produce English-style meat products using the highest quality and health standards. Disadvantaged young people from the region will be trained and then employed in food preparation and customer service. The skills and experience acquired in this social enterprise can be applied toward a variety of jobs and career paths in the food service industry. Food made by Master's Larder will be shipped wholesale across the country, and sold via on-site retail store.
This long term sustainable project will train as many as 20 young adults. After completing the Phoenix Inspire training program, it is virtually guaranteed that each adult will have a better life. Their family and their children will see their future differently. This is a long term project to solve a historically debilitating issue. Applied 'live' learning, offered here, is a new concept particularly for Bulgaria. This project will stimulate a different method of teaching and training.
