In early September 2010 our centre was contacted by the District Magistrate concerning the distressing case of 3 small girls from an remote village in the area who had no one to care for them. Their mother died following illness years ago. And then their father died too. His last words to his eldest daughter then just 11 years old , Pramilla before he passed away, was "love and take care of your sisters, "you are in charge of them now". (We have changed the names for child protection reasons)
Pramilla had no money for a cremation, and with the help of some villagers buried her father. As a landless family she had no source of food, but a rice dealer sometimes gave them rice. The villages felt they were going to die from hunger, and without relatives to care for them they took the children to the local police and demanded help. so they were brought to Rescue Junction. Our staff reported that the children arrived thin and traumatized but settled in well with our support and care.
Its now 2014 and the girls are now 15, 12 and 10 years of age. We have managed to find very rare places for all three girls together, as we would never break them apart, at one of the very few government residential schools for girls, in the state capital Patna over 100km away, but they come to Rescue Junction for their holidays as Rescue Junction is their only home. We really need to build up a special fund for these in order to help secure their future Please help them rebuild their lives.
Our work has the potential to help thousands of kids, but this appeal is a personal one just for these three girls. The fund will help for their everyday needs and supplementary education costs and some new clothes etc. We will help Pramilla when to either continue her studies or with vocational training (see project # 9798) But we will allocate every cent of this appeal to their future welfare including direct financial assistance when Pramilla turns 18 and can apply for legal custody.
