Thanks to you, We taught TM to NY Abuse Survivors!

By Katie Tagarello | Development Associate

“I feel I’m dealing with my stress in a very different way. I feel so calm after meditation, it is very hard for me to get into confrontations with anyone [as I] do to all the things that I have to do on a daily basis with courts, and therapists, and caseworkers, and all the madness of that domestic violence... I feel hopeful, I can see that I’m happier, and to be honest with you, it’s like life that has been grey for so long became back to colors. I can see colors in my life right now.”

"Before, I never expressed how I was feeling inside. When I started TM, I could express emotions. I felt confident, happy."

-- Two separate survivors of domestic violence who learned TM from DLF

Thank you for your support of the David Lynch Foundation’s outreach at the Bronx Family Justice Center.

Through your generous support, the David Lynch Foundation has taught close to 50 domestic abuse survivors and staff members at the Bronx Family Justice Center (BFJC) Transcendental Meditation – a cost-effective, non-religious technique for reducing stress and enhancing intelligence and creativity.

Research has shown the TM technique to be remarkably effective in treating the psychological and physical symptoms associated with traumatic stress, including reduced symptoms of PTSD, insomnia, flashbacks and substance abuse.

Through helping survivors of domestic violence to relieve the grip of past trauma and rebuild a sense of wellbeing and self-esteem, the Foundation has empowered these women and children. Some results have been to stay out of abusive relationships, find means to support themselves and their families and begin to form healthy, positive relationships.

David Lynch Foundation continues to work with the Bronx Family Justice Center and is currently trying our best to be as effective as possible to clients following BFJC's modalities of Domestic Violence healing.

Again, Thank you for all you do for our programs here at DLF and therefore, for the people we serve. The effects truly last a lifetime.
