Summary
When Stacy's husband beat her in November it was so violent she had to spend two weeks in the hospital. He was arrested and is being held without bail in Germany. Stacy wants to return to the USA but the authorities have asked her to wait so she can testify against him in the criminal trial in January. Stacy has a safe place to stay with friends. Stacy has multiple health issues and needs medication for one month until she can testify and get back home.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Abused American women in foreign countries often rely on their husband's health care. In cases like Stacy's, the husband is arrested after a violence assault and subsequently lose their jobs and benefits. Ironically, any health issues Stacy's husband has will be taken care of through the prison system. Stacy, and many like her, are left without resources to obtain medication that is critical to their health conditions.
How will this project solve this problem?
Through this micro project Stacy will be able to obtain her much needed medication for one month until she is able to return to the USA after she testifies in the trial in January about the abuse and injuries she suffered.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project serves 500 women per year plus their children empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
