This project will help support the NFTE Los Angeles Business Plan Competition, including the event costs, student coaching, and supplying all aspects of the competition. NFTE Los Angeles students will be able to present their business plans to a panel of judges during the event, and potentially win valuable start-up funds for their ventures.
Local business plan competitions are one of the cornerstones of the NFTE Los Angeles program. Students have the opportunity to present on ideas they are passionate about and practice the skills they have learned, as well as expand their personal and professional networks within the Los Angeles community. The events themselves are an important part of teaching students presentation skills, public speaking, and confidence in their business plans.
The Los Angeles Business Plan Competition brings the winners of NFTE classroom competitions together to compete for the chance to be a Regional Finalist. Participants have the chance to win scholarship money and present in front of local business owners and executives, along with NFTE board members. The public speaking experience our young entrepreneurs gain pitching their businesses often proves invaluable as well.
By working to keep at-risk students engaged in their school work, NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since 1987 NFTE has worked with over 500,000 students across the U.S. and around the world.
