Summary
Nine year old Avena has never been to school before. Her mother, Elise, knows how important school is, but in Haiti school isn't free, and Elise can't afford the fees. She has to choose between feeding her kids and sending them to school because she never got the education she needed to find a steady job.
With your help, we'll give Avena the education her mother never had so that she can build a future free from poverty.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
School in Haiti is not free, and if a family cannot pay, their children simply do not attend. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
How will this project solve this problem?
Avena has lived her whole life in poverty because her mother was never able to receive the education she needed when she was young. Your donation will give Avena the education she needs to ensure she does not follow in her mother's footsteps.
Potential Long Term Impact
Access to education for children from families who do not have the means to send their children to school means that those children will have the skills they need to find stable jobs and escape the poverty of their families.
